Review

In this story we get to really know and understand Sean Ford. He was just the best friend of Lizzie in the other books, popping up here and there. I’m honestly on the fence with this book. I liked Sean but at the same time I didn’t.

Sean is very sweet and has a good heart. He was super cute and gentle with Aoife. But I also found him to be weak. I had so many eye roll moments and in my head I’m like ‘buck up pussy’.  On the other hand, I was like ‘Yes, that’s right treat her like the delicate flower that Aoife is’.

Aoife confused me though. One minute she is being this bold brave girl and the next she’s cowering in the corner. Yes, her life back in Ireland and the things she has gone through completely gutted me and so she earned some brownie points for striving through what she is dealing with back home to be the responsible one.

I really wanted to love this story but sadly I just couldn’t really get into it. I couldn’t connect with the characters emotionally and the author uses too much proper grammar that takes away from the overall reading flow of the story, if that makes sense. This book was just not my cup of tea but I would say give it a shot. It definitely had its moments where you’ll find yourself clutching at your chest.

Review

Again, I have mixed feelings for this book. The Epilogue from book one is not consistent with this book, so I was left somewhat confused. This book did grab my attention more than the first however I still struggled to get through it. The editing issues sooo bug me, so unfortunately that can’t be overlooked and it does play a part in my rating.

Lizzie is still immature and insecure but yet she supposedly has grown. I didn’t see it. She just seemed too needy and indecisive and she’s still hung up on Teagan who royally screwed her over a year ago.

We’re introduced to a new character, Nick. He is an absolute sweetheart and sexy. He becomes a good friend to Lizzie and loves her kid. Of course he wants more but she’s still nurturing her broken heart over her baby daddy.

I’m giving this book 4 Stars because there were some emotional moments and for that moment in the story I was able to have an emotional connection with Lizzie. However, the events that took place took me by total surprise and had me thinking ‘Why?’ I mean what was the purpose of that happening. But nonetheless, it was a very emotional moment in the story.

I loved the friendship that Lizzie and Nick had. They seemed to be having fun while harboring feelings for each other until Lizzie was able to get her head out of her ass.

REVIEW: Unsettled (The Chosen Series #1) by Alisa Mullen

Synopsis

Lizzie O'Malley, a twenty three year old free spirited young woman, is on the run to find her purpose in life. In the summer of 2000, she returns home to Boston, Massachusetts to begin a life that she can be proud of. On her first night out on the town with a friend, tragedy strikes and she finds herself the cause of emotional wreckage. Instead of dealing, she concentrates on the man she met that first night.

Teagan Gallagher, a twenty two year old college student from Ireland, spends the summer of 2000 in Boston, Massachusetts, working towards his degree and partying his way through the city. One night he finds a beautiful American girl that he is desperate to spend the summer with.

Together, Teagan and Lizzie learn the ins and outs of an unconventional relationship. It isn't until their relationship is in so deep that it becomes impossible for one or the other to run away.

Review

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was a good read but didn’t quite grasp my attention throughout. There were also some editing issues and that is a big pet peeve of mine when reading. As much as I would like to, I just can’t overlook it. It messes with the flow of reading.

I did like the story line and the drama flair that was brought into it. But there were instances where I was just like ‘Really?!’ and wanting to slap Lizzie for being so damn dramatic or insanely stupid. And then wanting to beat the crap out of Teagan.

There were some funny parts to it that had me laughing. I mean who wouldn’t laugh at a bunch of drunken idiots. I really wanted to love this story. There were some mixed reviews and so I was hoping for a five star read, however, it just didn’t quite do it for me. There was just no emotion and I was so detached to the characters that I was like ‘meh, get over it’.

If you like sexy Irish men and summer flings then give it a try. Everyone’s opinion is different.
