Strike a Chord FINAL

Blurb:

“You want to fake date me?”

Music is my life, my band is my heart and soul, and it’s all falling apart before my eyes.

A plan hatched from desperation as we both watch our careers burn down around us. Dating my best friend’s twin brother, Paris, who just so happens to be a gay icon at the moment seems like the perfect plan. And if we have a little fun along the way, where’s the harm in that? The band is spiraling, his football career is going up in flames, and the more the world falls down around us, the easier it is to get lost in each other.

But are stolen moments during our own busy schedules and hurried kisses hidden behind social media posts the basis for a real relationship, or is this just another thing that’s going to turn to dust in our hands?

**Strike a Chord is the fourth and final book in the Replay series. This series can be read in any order.

Review
FIVE STRIKING STARS!!

I loved everything about this story. This is the fourth and final book of this series and I may not quite be ready to say goodbye to these boys. These characters are just so in need of love and K.M. Neuhold does them justice.

This author constantly awes me with her writing. These stories just flow so effortlessly. From beginning to end she had me completely captivated. I was awwing, oohing, and breathless from one minute to the next. Benji and Paris were so damn adorable and equally hilarious in their own way.

I love the whole fake dating scenario. Although Benji and Paris have been long time friends they still didn't really know each other. The ease of the transition from friends to lovers was so incredibly sweet. These two had me all up in my feels.

Benji and Paris' journey was very low angst and drama. It was super sexy, sweet and a great ending to this series.

Excerpt

The strong bassline pounds in my chest, the music becoming a heartbeat all its own as it courses through me. Bodies move around me like an unruly ocean, and I’m lost at sea. Sometimes I hate this feeling, disappearing into the crowd, being nameless and faceless in the dark, pulsing lights of the club. Other times, I crave it like oxygen. For a few brief seconds I’m not a member of the biggest rock band on the planet. I’m not the guy whose face is plastered on magazines and posters and t-shirts. I’m not the person who lays awake at night waiting for the phone call that one of my best friends is dead by their own reckless hand.

I lick my dry lips and lift my drink to them, savoring the burning taste of alcohol on my tongue as I throw the shot back.

“Benji!” A familiar voice breaks through the loud drone of club noise. I glance over my shoulder to find Cooper pushing his way through the crowd. He gets surprised and excited looks from people as he shoves them out of the way. Yes, you just got elbowed by a rock star.

“Coop,” I greet him, holding my fist up for a bump when he reaches me.

“What are you doing down here? Come up to VIP,” he says, grabbing my arm and tugging me without waiting for my response.

We get even more wide-eyed looks as he drags me through the horde of bodies toward the stairs that lead to the VIP level. People take in my long blond hair, pulled into a messy bun on the top of my head, the tattoos covering my arms, and they realize who I am, but not soon enough to get a piece of me before I’m whisked away.

Ten years and most days it still feels like a dream. If I could go back in time and tell the nerdy thirteen-year-old hiding in the janitor’s closet to keep from getting the shit kicked out of him that one day he’d be a millionaire, playing keyboard for a chart-topping band, he wouldn’t believe it.

The way things are going, it won’t be true for long. Thoughts of what’s happening to the band are what drove me out of my quiet apartment tonight, dead set on finding as many distractions as possible. Even if Jude manages to not snort his way to an early grave and Lincoln doesn’t “accidentally” cut himself too deep again and bleed out, we still have the little problem of Lando being unable to write music anymore. It’s starting to feel like one way or another, Downward Spiral isn’t going to make it into the new year, which is only a few weeks away.

KM Neuhold Logo 2

Author K.M. Neuhold is a complete romance junkie, a total sap in every way. She started her journey as an author in new adult, MF romance, but after a chance reading of an MM book she was completely hooked on everything about lovely- and sometimes damaged- men finding their Happily Ever After together. She has a strong passion for writing characters with a lot of heart and soul, and a bit of humor as well. And she fully admits that her OCD tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory will likely always lead to every book having a spin-off or series. When she's not writing she's a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero...just kidding, she's likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her husky while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

The Consequence of Rejection by Rachel Van Dyken
Publication Date: March 26th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

CORejection_eBook_LowRes

You know the universe is trying to tell you something when you get struck by lightning, but only after getting hit on by the elderly, almost getting run over by a semi, and running into the one who got away.
Why do they say it like that anyway?
Like I accidentally lost her when she was the one that got in the car with my best friend and left me.
The day after I proposed.
We were eighteen.
I wanted forever.
She didn't.
It's been ten years.
I tried to move on, tried to get married, had that same wedding crashed by my now best friend who says the only way for me to stop pissing off the universe, is to gain closure with the one woman I can't forget.
So I do it.
I embark on a journey down memory lane that not only lands me in prison but on the receiving end of a fist fight in front of the entire town, this naturally happens after drunken pool sex, climbing the same girl's window, and getting threatened at gunpoint by her father.
To say the universe is trying to tell me something anything, is a giant understatement.
I just hope I survive the message.
And then, I hope I survive her—again.

GAH! FINALLLLLLLLLYYYY!!! I have been so dying to read Jason’s story. He was just that one character where you completely felt sorry for and wanted to comfort, hug and shield him from all the others. He needed and deserved his HEA! Lol. So now I don’t know if my heart has built some type of wall or I’m in some type of book funk because I just………Ugh! It pains me to say this because this author is my go-to, instant one-clicker, most favorite author but this story was just okay! I think my expectations were very high for this one. I don’t know.

This book was funny, yes. Hilarious! But it was more like, come on how much more ridiculous can Max get? How much more pain and incidents can Jason endure? Where was all that hurt and pain and anger he held inside for so long? It’s like his feelings and all the pain he’s been holding in towards Maddy for the past ten years were just glossed over. It was more sweet and romantic, which is cute and all but again maybe my expectations were just too high considering how long we waited to finally get Jason’s story.

I still enjoyed the story. It was a good read and Rachel Van Dyken is still a favorite of mine. She’s just such a talented writer.  I just don’t think this is one of her best ones. But Jason finally gets his HEA!! YAY! I mean I would have made Maddy suffer a little more for breaking our poor Jason’s heart. I think she got off way too easy. I did love Jason and Maddy together though. They were cute and sweet. Not too high on the emotions in this book but overall a good read and it of course had its LOL moments.

Book Review - MY TRUTH, MY FUTURE by Taylor Rylan

Title: My Truth, My Future
Author: Taylor Rylan
Series: Men of Crooked Bend, Book #4
Publication Date: December 29, 2017
Genre: M/M Romance

BLURB

The only thing Tyler Kirkwood ever wanted in life was to be loved openly. But yet what he got was another man who is deep in the closet. So he did the only thing he could to try and save his heart, he left.

Graham Redfeather has only ever loved one man in his life, Tyler Kirkwood. But yet no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t quite come out of the closet, even for the man he loved. The issue was his own, for he knew he would be readily accepted by his family. After Ty leaves, Graham realizes just what he had and decides to win the man he loves back.

But when a man from Tyler’s past reappears and tries to get reacquainted with Tyler, Graham knows something isn’t adding up. Did Graham blow his chances? Was it too late? Will Tyler choose Graham and their love, or will he choose to return home to Montana and his legacy? Where does his loyalty lie?

My Truth, My Future is the fourth book in the Men of Crooked Bend series. Each book in the series will focus on a different couple but will be better enjoyed as a series as the couples all make appearances in each book. Each book contains sexually explicit material between two men and is intended for adults over 18.

REVIEW
4 Stars

This author is really doing a great job at keeping you intrigued by all these characters and wanting to know more and more. I was really curious about these two though from previous books. I wanted to know what the deal was with Graham and what was holding him back.

I gotta say I was a little disappointed on the reasoning behind his hesitations to pursue Tyler. I just didn't get it considering the amazing family dynamic that this whole set of characters have. But nonetheless, I still enjoyed the story and thought that Graham and Tyler were absolutely perfect and deliciously sexy together.

This author truly delivers such a great set of characters throughout this series. It's hard to say which one I favor as they all have something I love about them but I don't know there is just something about Tyler that makes him stick out the most for me. I love that he has this sense of vulnerability but he's so strong willed and determined. Another good addition to this series. Looking forward to the next book and hopefully we get more from the previous couples as I'm not sure I'm ready to fully say good bye to this amazing family yet.

About the Author

After several years of daydreaming about sexy men in her head, Taylor decided to finally start writing about them! That's where the Men of Crooked Bend came from, although at the time, she had no idea as to what she would name the town, nor what state it would be even be in. She quickly learned that even though she had ideas in her head, it was her characters that ultimately decided what would happen in each story. She goes into each adventure with a set plan but already knows that in the end, things will change and that her characters are going to get their way.

When she’s not writing about sexy men, she loves to read about them. Even if, her reading time has become less frequent since she started writing, she still tries to find time to read at least once a week.

She is a busy mom of three and one kitten named Lucky. If she’s not writing or reading about sexy men, she’s either running to some band function or another or is busy cheering from the stands at basketball games or marital arts functions.

Her Men of Crooked Bend Series is her first series but she already has two spin-off series planned!

No Shame Series Book 4

Release date: January 26, 2017

no shame ebook

Cover Design: Sloan Johnson/Sloan J Design

BLURB

Brad feels nothing but shame about himself. Shame about his sexual needs, about his reputation, about his medical problem no one knows about. No one, except his best friend Charlie, but no matter what feelings Brad may have for him, he’s not going there. Charlie deserves so much better, and Brad desperately needs something not even Charlie can provide.

Charlie has loved Brad forever, but he’s never acted on his feelings, unsure of where he stood. Plus, there was the complication of his boyfriend. But when his boyfriend’s abuse gets too much for Charlie, it’s Brad who helps him escape and recover.

Miles ends up severely wounded in the line of duty as an FBI agent. He’s floored when the man he was protecting, Indy, opens his home to him so he can recover. Indy also sets him up with Brad, who turns out to be a perfect solution for Miles’ sexual issues…until Miles wants more than sex from him, and a developing friendship between Miles and Charlie complicate things even more.

Bit by bit Charlie and Miles break through Brad’s defenses, until they come crumbling down. Miles will have to prove he can provide what Brad needs, and Charlie’s sweet love will be put to the test. But when Brad finally finds the courage to break free of his shame, will the fragile love that has blossomed between the three of them survive?

No Shame is a steamy M/M/M romance that ends with a happy ever after for all characters, including those from the previous books in the series. It’s the fourth book in the No Shame Series, and is NOT a stand alone novel, so make sure to read the first three books first (No Filter, No Limits, and No Fear). It contains hot sex, a ménage, a little daddy kink, more hot sex, and a poly-amorous relationship that transcends labels. Also: trigger warning for mentions of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and rape.

REVIEW
4 Stars

The fourth and final book in this series and the author does a good job wrapping everything up all nice and pretty. I liked that she brought more emotion into this book. This is Miles, Brad and Charlie's journey to finding their HEA and it definitely doesn't start out all hearts and flowers. Again, the continuation of the couples come into play in this book so we get more Indy, Noah, Josh and Connor. I love how open they all are and their relationships just continue to grow.

Miles takes on a roll that I'm not really sure suited him. Brad finally opens up and breaks down his walls with his issues and insecurities. I'm not really sure how I feel on that subject. I felt at times Charlie was left out a lot and maybe overlooked often. I almost felt like he had to force his way in to be included with Miles and Brad. Maybe the author wasn't ready to tackle an MMM relationship because it just didn't come across as a genuine equally loving triad. But they did tackle a lot of emotional demons in this book which made the story that much better. And the sex was just downright hot!

Love the loyalty and friendship between all the characters and really loved to see Josh and Aaron start to work on rebuilding their sibling relationship. This author has great potential and there is definitely a lot of improvement from book one. I enjoyed reading this series and following this unique bunch of men as they discover their self worth, fight mafia bosses and seek justice to find peace and freedom to move on. Great end to the series.

No Shame Teaser 1

EXCERPT

Miles had not yet met Josh and Connor, but according to Noah and Indy, they were fully on board with him moving in temporarily, even though Brad and his friend, Charlie, were also still staying there.
Noah parked the car in the driveway, as close to the front door as possible. “I’ll get Connor to help,” he said. “I don’t fully trust my leg yet, so I can’t support you.”
Miles nodded. Noah had lost a leg in Afghanistan, he’d read in Indy’s file, and had recently needed surgery to amputate even higher up, due to complications. “Okay.”
The man who stepped outside with Noah a few minutes later was massive. Broad arms and chest in a tight Red Sox shirt, strong legs. Miles recognized him from the pictures in the file. Ignatius O’Connor, called Connor by everyone. The last Miles had heard, the guy had been balls deep in the Boston crime scene, so he had no idea what had happened there.
Connor’s cheeks were flushed, as if he’d been doing something physical, and he and Noah were arguing about something.
“I don’t believe this,” Indy muttered, threw open his door and left it open as he stepped out. “Seriously? You guys were fucking again? At the rate you’re going, poor Josh won’t be able to sit for a week.”
Connor shrugged. “At least he’ll know who he belongs to.”
Noah shook his head. “You’re a regular fucking caveman, O’Connor. You would have done great with the dinosaurs.”
“Now why would I want to fuck a dinosaur? You’re not making any sense,” Connor said, his Boston accent thick.
Indy opened the door on Miles’ side. “Let’s get this guy inside so he can rest.”
Another man stepped outside. Tall, lanky, with cute, boyish looks. That had to be Joshua Gordon. He walked carefully, as if something hurt. Miles’ eyes narrowed. Had Connor hurt him? Josh took another careful step, and the source became clear. His ass. Had Indy been right? Holy crap, what kind of people were they?
Connor turned to watch Josh, and a look of pure love painted his face. Damn, but this was way more than mere fucking. Like with Noah and Indy, the love was palpable.
“You okay, babe?” Connor asked.
Josh leaned in, kissed him. “Yes, Connor.” Connor’s face lit up with happiness and a deep satisfaction.
“Shit, guys, sometime today, please?” Indy said, tapping his foot.

SinSaint Teaser 2

EXCERPT

Saint didn’t want to get off the bike. Camden smelled like leather, sweat, and spicy cologne, but it could be the man’s leather jacket that was wrapped tightly around him. He’d dreamed of being that close to Camden for almost three years since he’d seen him the first time. Camden was dressed in tactical gear. Looking badass and sexy, commanding. He’d wanted to crawl into the man’s lap and never get up.
When he’d mounted behind Camden, he’d tried to keep as much distance as possible between them, but Camden moved him closer. His brother saw something he wanted, and he went for it, except when it came to Camden. Sin was as terrified as him but played a good game. They’d never wanted the same person before. They always talked about it, and when it happened, they would be the one for them.
They hadn’t anticipated, well, Sin hadn’t anticipated their one putting up such a fight. He wasn’t like Sin. He wasn’t confident or outgoing, he wanted someone who would love and take care of him—someone to make decisions. Sin joked about his Daddy issues. He knew Sin didn’t mean anything by it, but it hurt.
Camden had told him what to do—that he would eat. That he would sit beside him. He’d gotten hard at the commanding, gruff voice.
His chest hurt as Camden slowed to a stop. The man helped him off, and he stood beside the bike as Camden removed the helmet. He started to remove the jacket.
“No, keep it, I’ll get it next time.”
“Next time?”
“You stop by.”
“Okay.” He started to back away, but Camden’s huge hand wrapped around the back of his neck.
He found himself plastered to Camden’s side. He twisted his hands in Camden’s uniform shirt. Tilting his chin, he waited for the kiss. He wanted those firm, full mouth on his. Calloused fingertips pinched his chin, and the hand on his neck kneaded the muscles.
Another kiss landed on his forehead like before they’d left. Camden pulled back, and he looked into the man’s gorgeous green eyes. He was so close he could see the yellow flecks around the pupils.
“You’re so beautiful.”
Lips brushed his left cheek, then the right, and Camden moved lower until the man’s mouth hovered over his.
“No—”
A hard tug at his hair stopped him.
“I said you’re beautiful, Ellison.”
“Thank you.”
He lowered his gaze then jerked it back up when Camden retreated.
“I’ll wait here until you’re inside.”

EXCERPT

“Sin and Saint, don’t they have real names?” Even though the names seemed perfect, he didn’t like them, and he wasn’t going to call his—nothing his was in this bar.
“Sin is Eric, and Ellison is Saint, but I don’t think they answer to them. Last I heard their mom started calling them Sin and Saint.”
“I won’t be calling them Sin and Saint.”
“Does that mean you’ll be calling them because they’re headed this way. Good luck.”
He nearly hollered for Twitch when the little man darted away. He was a grown ass man so he could handle two pretty boys. Their platinum blond hair tousled around their beautiful faces. Fuck, he caught sight of himself in the mirror behind the bar, and he looked old, well, ancient compared to them. The silver patch in his goatee stood out starkly and reminded him he wasn’t in his twenties or even thirties anymore.
Just don’t be an asshole, Camden, he ordered himself. His hand locked tight around the bottle as the most beautiful men he’d ever seen flanked him on either side. Their slim bodies pushing in beside him, and he instantly knew which one was Sin. The boy pressed in tight to his side, while Ellison, Saint, kept a bit of distance. In his peripheral, he noticed the innocent pink that stained Ellison’s cheeks and he wanted to reach for him. Chase the spreading color under the pads of his calloused fingers.
“Well, hello, sexy, you’re new.”
Eric’s soft fingertips stroked up his bare arm only being stopped by the rolled cuff of his dress shirt. His stomach tightened.
“Camden.”
“You’re Scary’s cousin.”
Ellison’s voice was softer, tinged with a hint of shyness that made him want to turn to him.
“Why don’t you come home with us, Camden?”
“Why don’t you go play with someone your own age, boy?”
He didn’t know where the brusque tone came from, but he didn’t want to be some notch for boys with Daddy issues. It was a rage in his abdomen. An emotion he’d never experienced before burned through his veins, and he couldn’t think beyond getting as far away from Eric and Ellison as he could. Part of he wanted to put them over his knee for propositioning some strange man in a bar. The other part of him, the one he needed to rein in, wanted to take them home.
“Twitch,” he called for the bartender and pulled enough from his pocket to cover his few beers, plus a generous tip.
“Goodnight, boys.”
Eric looked at him like he was insane to turn them down and maybe he was, but he was a grown ass man, and he knew what he wanted. Ellison avoided glancing at him and instead of embarrassment or shyness, the young man looked ashamed. He pushed back from the bar and started to walk away.
“Goodnight, Camden.”
Ellison’s sweet voice called to him, and he imagined what it would sound like when the boy screamed his name as he was buried balls deep. Angry with himself, he strode toward the door.

He knew what he wanted, something or someone only his, someone to care for and make happy. A quick fuck he wasn’t and twenty-one was too fucking young for what he had in mind. That didn’t keep his mind from wandering to the twin temptation he’d left back at Brawlers and it didn’t disappear even as he drove in the opposite direction of Powers, Georgia, and from the things he knew he couldn’t have.

“I was sure my heart had withered away years ago, but then you smiled at me and I felt it beat again.” ~Gage

Years ago, I fell in love with my best friend's little brother. Then, he took his own life, leaving me shattered and unable to piece my heart back together. I've been a zombie for nine long years. Until a crazy, gorgeous man walked into Heathens Ink and injected color back into my world of gray. No matter how hard I try to resist Beck he just won’t give up on me. I would need steel willpower to withstand his gorgeous long legs in his high heels, and his drawer full of lacy lingerie. But is this just a kinky hook up or does it have the possibility for more?

“We're both broken, but our jagged edges fit together well” ~ Beck

When you’re half of a whole you never contemplate what life would be like without your matching piece. Since my twin sister, Brianna, died last year, nothing I do seems to quiet my soul. I know there has to be some way for me to feel happy and whole again. And, when I look into the pained eyes of the tattoo artist at Heathens Ink I feel like I have a purpose. I can’t explain it, but I feel like I have to find a way to put him back together.

Shattered Pieces is book 4 in The Heathens Ink Series and can be read as a standalone.

Review
4 Stars

This is a new-to-me author and the first book in this series that I’ve read. It can be read as a standalone although now I’m intrigued by the other couples and need to back track. I really enjoyed this story and these characters. Gage and Beck couldn’t be more perfect for each other. I like how the author paced their friendship/relationship. I think it was exactly what Gage needed.

Although I did enjoy the story, I’m not sure how I felt about the whole grieving for ten years. I mean I know everyone copes and deals with death differently but TEN YEARS! Ok, so after I got over the whole ten year thing I was expecting Gage to go through this very emotional breakthrough where I was going to ugly snot cry. Because it’s been ten years! I felt the build-up and there were emotions and my heart was breaking for Gage but ………………… no emotional snot crying! WHAT?! I was a little disappointed as I was expecting it to be more on the emotional side considering the circumstance and the amount of time this author had Gage grieving for his young lover whom he only dated for a short amount of time. So, this was really the only down side of the story for me. I wanted the snot cry!!

Oh well, so no snot crying people! But don’t fret as it’s still a very enjoyable read with a bunch of great characters. BECK!!! I sooooo fucking LOVED Beck! An absolute wonderful, fun, sexy, feisty, and amazing character that really just brought this whole story to light. Even dealing with his own grief and the daily misery from his career he was an absolute delight and joy to read. I love that this author made him proud of who he was and wasn’t afraid or ashamed to rock his heels and makeup. LOVE IT!

Overall, this was a touching, sweet and sexy read. I will be going back to the other books in the series and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

EXCERPT

“Dance with me.” Beck holds his hand out to me. His eyes spark with amusement at what I’m sure is the obvious horror in my expression.
“I don’t dance.”
“Come on, you’re supposed to be trying fun, new things. I’m not expecting Fred Astaire, just stand in my general vicinity and nod your head to the beat.”
I sigh in resignation and take Beck’s hand, refusing to notice how soft his skin is or how good it feels to touch someone, however casually.
Still clutching my hand, Beck starts to dance. He starts out tame, simply swaying to the music. But, before long he’s spinning and shimmying like a ballerina on crack. Even being goofy and over the top he’s utterly graceful. And the joy in his expression is heartbreaking in its beauty.
When he spins out and then into my arms like a tango dancer, a laugh escapes from my chest, too full of a warmth to contain it.
“You have a really nice laugh,” Beck says, smiling up at me.
My heart thuds violently against my ribcage. Some long-forgotten place in my brain wakes up from its long slumber and starts to make irrational demands like kiss him and make Beck mine.
I pull my arms back, forcing a smile as blood rushes in my ears. Beck isn’t mine. He can never be mine. I had someone who was mine and I broke him beyond repair.
“I’m afraid I’m a bit rusty,” I admit with chagrin.
“Never too late to pick it back up again,” Beck reasons, stepping close again but not so close to warrant another retreat on my part.
His lips are rosy pink and so soft, slightly parted and unbelievably tempting. I can’t remember if we were discussing laughing or kissing and I don’t really care.
“For the first time in a long time I’m starting to wonder if that’s true.” The hope my statement sparks in Beck’s eyes forces me to backpedal as guilt washes over me. “It feels wrong to imagine happiness is possible, even in some vague, future way.”
“I’m not going to give you any trite bullshit like saying Johnny would’ve wanted you to be happy. I didn’t know Johnny and even if I had there’s no way to know what he would’ve wanted because he’s gone. But you’re still here. You still have a life, a heart, and the right to be happy whether now or in a vague future.” The way Beck holds my gaze is like a cobra ensnaring a mouse. “You don’t need Johnny’s permission to move on and be happy. You only need to give yourself permission.”
