Series Review - THE SIN TRILOGY by Georgia Cates

A Necessary Sin
The Sin Trilogy Book 1

Bleu MacAllister is consumed. A horrific childhood incident has caused every decision in her life to revolve around bringing a monster to justice. With years spent studying The Fellowship, an organized crime brotherhood of liars, thieves, and killers, Bleu will rely on her skills as a special agent to cut Thane Breckenridge off at the knees. But walking hand in hand with retribution means risking collateral damage, in the form of Breckenridge’s son Sinclair—until Sin becomes so much more than Bleu bargained for. She’s always known this undertaking would place her life in danger—she never imagined her heart would be as well.

There is absolutely no doubt that this author can write. She manages to create these story lines that grab your attention from the very beginning and then your hooked. I was so intrigued with this story and couldn't wait to see how it plays out. I instantly knew that I was going to be a fan of Bleu. I love a strong heroine who goes in head strong and determined and the fighting power to back it up.

I loved how Bleu challenged Sin but I still felt like she gave in a little to easy. But oh how I loved Sinclair Breckenridge!!! Strong, powerful, sexy and loyal yet he was so caring and tender with Bleu. GAH! I loved it. This is such a great story line and all the characters are fantastic. This so easily addicting and you immediately want to become invested in the whole series because you just have to know what comes next. I'm almost glad I'm reading this after all the books are release because I'm not sure what I would've done waiting between releases.

Georgia Cates starts this series off with an addicting and sexy start that leaves you wanting so much more.

The Next Sin
The Sin Trilogy Book 2

I’ve watched her from afar for weeks. And she has no idea.

Bleu MacAllister ran from me three months ago. She thought she could disappear from my life. My beloved believed I’d let her go.

Wrong.

Bleu says I won’t find her; she changes like a chameleon. Wrong, again. Some things remain unaltered. She’s still beautiful. Sexy as hell. And I want her more than my next breath.

The circumstances bringing us together have changed. It’s a precarious situation because my bonny lass is a hunted traitor. But I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

She will be my wife.

I am Sinclair Breckenridge. And I’m coming for her.

Intended for readers ages 18+ due to sexual content, adult situations, and language.

With them, Bleu finally discovers her mother’s killer along with far more than she could possibly imagine. Can she find happiness with a husband who will go to any length to keep her safe, even if it means denying her of the one thing she believes she wants most in this world?

Georgia Cates delivers such a riveting and suspenseful journey for Bleu and Sin. The conclusion had me sitting at the edge of my seat. These two have gone through so much and this last installment is definitely a page turner.

I was so consumed from book one and these characters have stolen a piece of my heart. This was such an enjoyable read. There were some turn of events that were really shocking and I did not see coming. This author did a great job with the overall flow of the story and keeping the suspense and mystery addicting.

A great conclusion to Bleu and Sin.

Endurance
The Sin Trilogy Book 4
A Sin Series Standalone

I'm a doctor. Mobster. Killer.
My hands are covered in filth. I don't have the right to touch anything as clean and pure as Ellison MacAllister.

I distance myself ... always remaining obscure, composed, restrained.
Careful to never allow my eyes to linger too long.
Careful to hide my interest.
Careful to keep my burning desire buried beneath the surface.

I do it for her--suffer in silence--because it's what is best for the woman I love.
And she has no idea.

She'll be initiated as a Fellowship member soon. One of my mafia brothers will go through endurance so he'll earn the right to claim her.
Make her his wife.
Kill. Me. Slowly.

I'm running out of time. Only a month remains before she's beyond my reach forever.
I want to taste her. Share sleepless nights. Ride out her storm.
I want to give her the kind of nights she will still feel between her legs the next morning.
I want us to share the kind of passion that forms on our skin and drips down to saturate the sheets.
Between the sweat and the moans and the messy hair, I want her to know how hard she's been loved.

To have her is to taint her.
I should stay away. But I won't. I can't.
I'm a selfish bastard.
A selfish bastard in love.

***Intended for readers ages 18+ due to sexual content, adult situations, and language.

*****************

Endurance is a STANDALONE novel. It is the first spinoff of The Fellowship world introduced in The Sin Trilogy: A Necessary Sin, The Next Sin, One Last Sin.

Although Endurance may be read as a standalone, I recommend reading The Sin Trilogy first if you wish to have a full understanding of The Fellowship world. The choice is yours. (An ebook bundle set with all three books is available at a discounted price.)

Each Sin Series Standalone Novel will feature a different couple.

No cliffhanger.

I loved Ellison from the beginning. Her personality just made her shine and definitely set her aside from her sister. I was curious as to how this was going to play out. I was a little mad at Jaime in the beginning because he was so cold toward Elli.

Georgia Cates once again delivers another swoon worthy man though. Jaime redeems himself when he steps up to the plate. This ended up being such an enjoyable read. They were so sweet and loving. Georgia Cates is such a talented writer and her characters draw you in from start to finish.

This was such a perfect blend of danger, drama, love and sexiness.

I'm still struggling a bit to get into the story itself as it's just a cycle of stupid decisions back and forth between the MC's. Although, things are starting to heat up more with Ian and Kristina in this one and emotions are running high. The author starts to kick it up a notch taking you on an emotional roller coaster. The author does a great job leaving you sitting at the edge of your seat wanting to know what comes next for these two.

Ok, things are really starting to get intense in this third book. Ian and Kristina are definitely taking us on an emotional roller coaster. It's obvious Ian and Kristina love each other. They just continue to struggle with these demons that test the strength of their relationship.

In this book K.M. Scott does a great job portraying the pain, hurt, and love. I'm chomping at the bits here to see what the conclusion to this chaotic love story will be.

SERIES REVIEW: The Gilded Flower Series by Vivian Winslow

Series: The Gilded Flower Series
Author:  Vivian Winslow
Genre:  Erotic Romance

Synopsis of Gilded Lily (Book 1): After catching her fiancé Jack in bed with her sister the day before her wedding, New York socialite Lily Baron escapes to Rio, her honeymoon destination—alone. There, Marcelo, the dark and sexy hotel masseur, releases a heated passion Lily had never experienced with Jack. When Lily meets handsome and powerful Brazillionaire Gustavo de Lima, she can hardly resist him. There’s just one problem. He’s married. In this uber-sensual city, will Lily’s reluctance to be with a married man, in light of her own fiancé’s betrayal, give way to her burning desire for Gustavo?

Review:
Lily catches her fiancé in bed with her twin sister the night before the wedding.  Calling everything off and taking off to her honeymoon destination by herself, she slowly gains back her confidence and embraces a whole new side of herself.

Feeling sexier than she’s every felt Lily becomes a little vixen and seems to be horny all the time. She finds not only one but two guys to satisfy her needs, the masseuse and the hot brazillionaire.

This story had great potential. Even as a short story I found it difficult to focus my attention on it. It had moments where it was sexy and steamy, but not erotic. The sex scenes lacked that intensity that you would expect from an erotic story. I was unable to connect with the characters. Lily just comes off as a woman who has no idea what she wants and after everything that happened with her fiancé, Jack, who was also her first, she all of a sudden wants to have sex with any hot guy that looks her way.

I liked the story line and it does end in a cliffhanger; that alone made me want to continue reading to see what happens next.

Synopsis of Calla Lily (Book 2): Having experienced a profound personal and sexual awakening during her solo honeymoon to Brazil, New York socialite Lily Baron rushes back to New York upon hearing the news that her father has fallen ill. Now, Lily must take the helm of the Baron Media empire and fend off a high-stakes hostile takeover attempt. With the fate of the company hanging in the balance, will Lily be able to resist the advances of the luring, unwanted suitor in the boardroom as well as the bedroom?

Review:
Lily comes home and rushes to her father’s hospital bed after he suffers from a stroke. Lily’s steps in as acting CEO to Baron Media while her father recovers. Throwing herself in work and trying to forget the train wreck that she got herself in by getting involved with a married man, she welcomes the distraction.

Again, I found it hard to connect with Lily. All she seems to do is end up in bed with someone because she just can’t control her desire. Gustavo, her hottie, married brazillonaire, is back in the picture.

These stories fall short of that emotional connect I want when reading a story. Also, it lacks that erotic essence. Sure there are sex scenes but they don’t have enough of that WOW factor for me.

***ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Synopsis of Tiger Lily (Book 3): Weary from battling a hostile takeover attempt of her family’s company, Lily seeks a distraction in Todd, an erstwhile bartender with a large trust fund and magical tongue. Meanwhile, a connection seems to be developing between Lily and Alejandro, a wealthy and gorgeous Cuban-American, whose brother, Rodrigo, is dating Lily’s twin sister, Dahlia. When Alejandro unexpectedly rebuffs Lily one night, she is deeply dismayed.  But, after seeing Alejandro’s picture with a gorgeous Latina model in the gossip pages, Lily thinks it wasn’t just a misunderstanding. When the sisters and brothers reunite in Aspen for a ski weekend, will Lily’s heart remain frozen or will the fire between her and Alejandro rekindle and melt away the ice?

Review:
Lily is blind-sided by an unwanted business proposal from Gustavo and is feeling used. Spending time away and seeking sexual comfort from Todd is her plan to try and get over this whole ordeal with Gustavo.

A quick read, the last one in this series and I still felt no connection to Lily or any of the other characters. In fact, I just wanted to slap Lily for being so damn weak and becoming such a bed hopper.

The only character that I really liked was Alejandro. He was just genuinely nice to her and didn’t seem to have an ulterior motive. Not enough steamy sex for me and the ending just left me like ‘WTF!’ It just seemed unfinished. It seemed Lily was finally finding her footing and perhaps an HEA but then it just ends.

BLOG TOUR: SERIES REVIEW & GIVEAWAY - SoulShares Series by Rory Ni Coileain

SoulShares Tour Banner

Title: SoulShares Series
Author: Rory Ni Coileain
Genre: M/M Erotic Paranormal

Synopsis

The SoulShares are a four-book cycle, the first of three, telling the stories of the Fae of the Realm and their journeys to the human world. Leaving the Realm strips of Fae of half his soul, which is cast out through space and time and is reborn into a human. And when Fae and human SoulShares reunite, handle with asbestos gloves!

In Hard as Stone, we meet Tiernan Guaire, a Fae Noble exiled from the Demesne of Earth for the murder of his brother, and Kevin Almstead, the human who holds the other half of his soul. Tiernan’s vowed never to love, but he can’t help his feelings for the handsome lawyer, and when they encounter the Marfach, the ancient and bloodthirsty enemy of the Fae race, they can only face it down united.

In Gale Force, Conall Dary, of the Demesne of Air, the most powerful mage the Fae race has produced since the Sundering of the Fae and human worlds thousands of years ago, is sent to the human world by a vengeful and petulant Noble lady, and is accidentally stripped of his ability to channel magick in the process. Human tattoo artist Josh LaFontaine has inherited that ability, but Conall needs it back, along with the missing half of his soul, as he’s the only hope of preventing the Marfach from returning to complete the destruction of the Fae Realm.

In Deep Plunge, we meet Lochlann Doran, the first Fae to come to the human world through the Pattern, the portal between the worlds. He’s been looking for his SoulShare for over two thousand years, so long that he’s lost all his magick. Garrett Lee Templar is a pole dancer at Purgatory, Tiernan Guaire’s hot-as-the-hinges-of-Hades nightclub. And unfortunately, the Marfach and its mostly dead human host have figured out that a Fae’s human SoulShare is exquisitely vulnterable…

And in Firestorm, the impossible happens – two Fae paired as SoulShares. And not just any two Fae. Cuinn an Dearmad is the last surviving Loremaster, one of the original creators of the Pattern, and a walking attitude problem. Rian Aodán, known in the human world as Rian Sheridan, is the Prince Royal of the Demesne of Fire, kidnapped by Cuinn as an infant and presently trying to fill the empty space in his soul with pain and fire. Together, the two have to break the Pattern to restore magick to the dying Realm.

Deep Plunge Teaser

Excerpt from Gale Force

Slowly – too slowly, more slowly than last time – the pain loosened its grip on him. He sat motionless for a few moments, just breathing, testing to see if it was really over; then, stiffly, he got up, went to the door, and closed the locks the hard way. It’s a good thing touching magick doesn’t have the same effect on me that trying to channel it does.

Yes. There was the problem. Trying to channel magick. It was supposed to be as natural as breathing, as walking; magick was what he was made of, him more than most Fae, and it was supposed to be an effort for him not to channel it. And that wasn’t supposed to change, in the human realm.

Conall lay back on the bed, his weight on his elbows, staring at the window with its translucent shade. He knew more about what had happened to him, what was happening to him now, than he was willing to bet most of the luckless travelers that had passed through the Pattern in the course of two thousand years had known. Mages maintained histories after most Fae had long since forgotten about the tales the history became.

He should be able to use his magick here. All the histories said so. The only problem with that was that any attempt to channel anything beyond the abilities inherent in any Fae – rapid healing, and in his case the gift of languages, the gift of the Demesne of Air – brought an agony nearly as great as what he almost remembered of the Pattern. Even after he stopped trying, his very bones remembered what a bad idea it had been.

And the reminder lasted longer each time. Damn, he needed something to take his mind off this. He fell back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Mirror. Queen’s tits. An image floated unbidden into his mind, himself lying back on this bed, with Josh covering him. The way the human had in his dream. Only this time he could see, in the mirror, and the designs on Josh’s tanned back were amazing. Wings, almost real enough to fly.

Conall shook his head, and the image fled; he groaned, and covered his eyes with a forearm. The pain had started the moment Josh let go of his hand. He wasn’t a romantic; no Fae was, not when you and your partner ar a lar, of the moment, were both going to live more or less forever unless someone killed you, not when attraction was never forever, and when there was no such thing as love, except the love of blood for blood, which was a different thing entirely. No, romance was not in the Fae lexicon. Much less so in his own.

And yet, it had hurt when Josh released his hand. Down to the bone.

                Scair-anam.

A Fae who passed through the Pattern had his soul torn in half. Some truths had not been preserved, and the whole truth about what happened within the Pattern was one of those truths. It was known that half of the Fae’s soul went out into the human world, to be born into a human. But as to where, and when, and how, that human was to be found, the ancient texts gave not a fucking clue.

                Good word.

Conall rolled onto his side, curling in around the pain as another spasm seized him, waiting for it to pass. And waiting some more, his arms crossed over his abs in an attempt to stop the tremors. Trying to breathe. Damn, this time it felt like something was dragging at his very breath, trying to keep it from his lungs. He was smothering, a little bit at a time.

The histories all said a Fae in the human world, without his Soulshare, could never die. But the histories were wrong about other things.

                Can I die?

Not alone. Maybe he could. But he would not. He refused. Josh would come back. Somehow, being with the human would stop the pain.

How many times had he yearned for a normal life? To be free to channel, or not. To take pleasure, with another, and not risk the destruction of that other, and everything around him. To look into the eyes of a friend, or a lover, and not wonder when he would be asked to pay in power for the gift of a moment’s closeness.

Wisdom wishes not, the proverb said. For the only fate worse than to be denied a wish is to receive it.

Reviews

Hard as Stone
This was my first time reading anything by this author so I really didn't know what to expect going into this series. But my oh, my.... great chemistry, well written, strong set of characters and HOTT!!!

Tiernan was exiled to the human world for committing murder. He comes with baggage and huge insecurities. He struggles with his feelings for Kevin and goes off and fucks women and men to try to get passed what obviously seems inevitable.

Kevin is looking to drown his sorrows. Turned down yet again to become partner in the Law Firm he works at, he ventures off to an all male nightclub. It was supposed to be one night. But the blond hair, blue eyed stranger won't stay out of his thoughts.

I loved Kevin. He was just so accepting of everything with Tiernan. And no matter what obstacles were put in their path, he never let up. Although, Tiernan struggles with his feelings and the fact that Kevin is indeed his other half, I loved how he would take care of Kevin and being romantic by setting candles and baths, making sure he got rest when tired and how they both just had a way of reading one another.

This book was full of surprises that’s for sure. This story is full of action, fantasy and lots and lots of hot sex. From demonic monsters to demonic humans and a beautiful relationship that develops between Tiernan and Kevin, this was a great story. At times it was a little confusing for me to follow but I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read Urban Fantasy and a beautiful bond between two men.

Gale Force

This is the second book in the Soulshares series and it was just as good as the first, if not better.

Conall is the most powerful mage and because he is so powerful he has to have a tight control over his powers and he can’t ever be intimate. Exiled on Earth, his soul ripped in two and his magic broken, he lands at the feet of a tattoo artist. Josh owns the tattoo parlour just above Purgatory and he stumbles over an injured Conall. Unable to explain the connection he feels towards Conall he takes him in and tries to help him heal.

Josh and Conall find themselves in danger and an accident leaves Conall in a very difficult situation. They are faced with several obstacles to hurdle in order to get to where they want to be.
In this book we are introduced to several more characters and are able to get a little bit more understanding of the Loremasters and the Marfach’s hunting of the Fae.

This was a great continuation to the series and once again the sex was HOTT!! I was glad that this book was different from the first book and based the men’s connection on a more emotional level. It was a real love story and I enjoyed reading it. So far, Josh and Conall are my favorite couple and I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

Deep Plunge

Wow, this is the third book in the Soulshares series and is definitely deep and emotional at times.

This book tells the story of Lochlann Doran-the first Fae to be sent through the portal to the human world over two thousand years ago-and Garrett Templar, the dancer who has been living with HIV ever since he was infected by a john that he entertained on the side to help pay his bills while dancing at Purgatory.

Lochlann no longer has his magick and the gift of healing and finding his SoulShare is the only way he can regain it back. When Lochlann sets his eyes on Garrett while he was performing at Purgatory, he knows that he’s found his other half. But their journey is not easy.

Garrett is having a hard time dealing with the fact that he now has full blown AIDS and tries to push Lochlann away. But Lochlann isn’t willing to give up. They need each other. But with the Marfach still trying to gain power, they have more danger to escape.

This book was more tender, more passionate and another great addition to the series. Rory brings such great imagination into these stories and such vivid descriptions. Very well written and a great set of characters evil and good.

Firestorm cover

Magic, fantasy, love, anger, hope…. This book has it all.

Rian and Cuinn two men that have their own set of baggage to deal with. Instantly attracted to each other and Rian has a very unique sexual appetite that involves pain. Another hot, sexual and passionate story of two men going through the struggles to be together.

In the beginning, we get to see how they were connected as Rian starts out as a newborn Royal Fae and Cuinn is charged with taking the newborn and letting him go to the mortal realm. And come now in the present day, Cuinn needs to locate Rian in hopes of stopping the falling of the Realm.

There is so much anger between these two but they have so much chemistry it sizzles right out of the pages. Still a little confusing at times but again Rory brings to life such vivid imagination and strong, sexy main characters. There were parts where I was laughing and I may have shed a tear or two.

Overall, this was a good erotic fantasy and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

About the Author

Rory Ni Coileain

I majored in creative writing, back when Respectable Colleges didn’t offer such a major, so I designed it myself – being careful to ensure that I never had to take a class before nine in the morning or take a Hemingway survey course. I was lucky enough to score the wonderful P.C. Hodgell as a major advisor, too, and to spend several years in a writer’s workshop with Eleanor Arnason. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa at the age of nineteen, sent off my first short story to an anthology being assembled by an author I idolized, got one of those rejection letters that you talk about with your therapist until you’re old and gray, and found other things to do, such as corporate law and nightclub singing, for the next thirty years or so, until I discovered, entirely by chance (except that I don’t believe in chance), the world of m/m erotic romance. Now I have a day job as a legal editor that I’m aching to quit, I’m the mother of a high school senior (when did THAT happen?) and a member of my church choir and the St. Mark’s Cathedral Choral Society, and I’m trying frantically to keep up with the adventures of a group of very randy Fae and tree spirits and the humans who can’t seem to help falling in love with them.
