Review

I absolutely LOVE this story!! I’ve probably read it a thousand times and can re-tell the story word for word. Well, maybe not word for word but close enough. Kirsty Moseley made me an instant fan when I read this book. I loved everything about it.

The characters I absolutely adore! Riley and Clay are best friends and they know each other so well. Or so they thought…

Clay has been harbouring his feeling for Riley for a long time. It took Riley a month long vacation away from her best friend to realize that she just might like him as more than a friend.

Blake comes in the picture and he’s looking for revenge on Clay and sets his eyes on Riley. Thing starts to get a little crazy and Blake just won’t stay away from her. It’s a crazy obsession that goes terribly wrong.

I love love love this story! I love that Clay’s nickname for Riley is ‘Riley Bear’. It’s super cute and he is super sweet. Riley is a tough nut and won’t let anything come between her and Clay.

A great read with some unexpected turns of events. I highly recommend it. I loved it. This is my go-to re-read book. My top favourite book EVER!!! I just instantly fell in love with this book and these characters. I think Kirsty Moseley did an amazing job writing this story and drawing out the emotions. I laughed. I cried. And I fell in love with Riley and Clay!!!

About the Author

Kirsty Moseley has always been a passionate reader since she was a little girl, devouring books overnight, barely sleeping and paying for it at school the next day. Writing has come similarly to her and once she discovered Wattpad, she finally plucked up the courage to post one of her stories. Seven million reads later, she self-published her debut novel THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW, which later became one of 10 Finalists for the 2012 Goodreads' Choice Awards, Best YA Fiction. Shocked and overwhelmed by the response, she published her second novel ALWAYS YOU a few months later.
If she had to sum herself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of her school teachers, she doesn't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, she read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams....
She lives in Norfolk, England with her husband and son.

Review

I found this book way hotter than the Gilded Flower Trilogy. Though it is hotter it still fell a little short for me. Maybe I’m just expecting too much from the story, I’m not sure but for an erotica story, I want more sexy steamy sex, lol.

I had mixed feelings about Dahlia from the previous trilogy because of what she did to her sister. So, I really wasn’t a fan of hers until she met Rodrigo and started to fall in love. We got to see another side to her with the hint that there is something deeper with her. I’m glad that we get her story now. This was a good start to her journey. Vivian gives us the background story and where Dahlia’s hurt stems from. Which, I was glad that it wasn’t going to be dragged out.

I was shocked at how she dealt with the whole Rodrigo/Shane scenario. I mean I get it. But I was still shocked because Rodrigo was such a sweet guy. I like Shane’s character and the fact that he is so forthcoming with his feelings towards Dahlia.

I’m interested in reading the rest of Dahlia’s story. This book ends on a cliffhanger that leaves me feeling a bit weary, like something bad is going to happen and I really don’t want that. Dahlia has already suffered a great loss and I'm keeping my fingers crossed all goes well.  I’m starting to warm to Dahlia and really like her especially now that she has finally faced some of her past.

Overall, it’s a good start to this trilogy, Vivian Winslow’s writing improves with each book and I can’t wait to read more.

**ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Vivian Winslow was born and raised in Southern California. Before becoming a writer, she made a career out of moving around the world every couple of years thanks to her husband’s job. She currently lives in New York City with her husband and two elementary school age children, and is grateful to finally have a place to call home for more than two years. New York is the perfect city to indulge her love of shopping, the arts and especially food.

If she’s not at home writing or running around the city with her kids, you’ll most likely find her indulging in pizza on the Lower East Side or having a cocktail at her favorite bar in Alphabet City. That said, she’s still a California girl at heart and would gladly trade in her heels for a pair of flip-flops to catch a sunset on the beach. .

1. If you were a dessert, what would you be?
Oooh. Definitely something salty and sweet. There’s a dessert at Big Gay Ice Cream down on the Lower East Side called the Salty Pimp. It’s a soft serve vanilla cone with drops of Dulce de Leche and covered in chocolate. I love anything you eat with your tongue.

2. What 3 things are essential in your bedroom for a sexy/romantic night in?
Music is a must.  I change it up quite a bit depending on my mood. Also, the right man (I’m married so that’s a given : )). And, depending on our mood, a toy, prop or just us. Sorry, that’s 2-2 ½ things. Oh, I guess sleeping children. There’s nothing romantic going on when they’re awake.

3. What do you like about writing erotic romance?
I like that I can take my characters to the edge of and beyond their limits.  I also get to define what those limits are. The beauty of digital publishing is that there are no set parameters for a particular genre. So it’s been a lot of fun incorporating various elements from other genres (women’s fiction, suspense, etc.) and creating really hot sex scenes to go with them. It’s pure freedom, which for a writer is extremely difficult to find and balance.

4. If you could sleep with any of your characters who would it be?
Ahem. No disrespect to the hot man in my life or to those I write about. I’ve had sex with them all (in my head, except for my husband), and the one I think I’d come back to time and again is Alejandro. He’s a true alpha. Not overly dominating in the way that readers have come to expect because of books like 50 Shades. Rather, he’s confident and secure in his masculinity and is completely self-possessed. To me, that’s what makes a true alpha male. They’re not necessarily assholes or dominants. I think those qualities can often confuse what makes a man a sexy alpha versus a crazy, stalker with low self-esteem masked as an alpha. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that when I picture him, I see William Levy. So hot.
And confession. Gustavo is a close second. Just once though. I’d have to get it out of my system. Lol.

5. Spanking, yes or no.
Abso-fuckin’lutely. Caveat. Can’t be overdone or done every time. Then it’s just abuse, which is so not hot.

6. Do you like to be tied up. If so, why and with what?
Same answer as above. I have an adventurous spirit, and I’m usually game for anything. Whatever is around can work, like a t-shirt. I’m usually a fly-by-the seat-of- her-pants kind of person so sometimes you have to just work with what you have.

7. What do you for inspiration for your love scenes?
Personal experiences aside, I have quite an imagination. : ) I’ve been writing love scenes since I was a young girl. If I’m feeling a need for a kick-start, I’ll listen to sexy music, which varies depending on the scene, if it’s animalistic or sensual.  I might also read a scene from a sexy book. It doesn’t hurt to look at some hot guys on the Internet. But that’s a last resort. It’s important to connect with the character and figure out what kind of lover he is, for example, rough, gentle, confident, or dominating, and then go from there. While the books are centered on the female characters, their sexual experiences are defined just as much by the men they are with as it is by them. It’s a mutual scene, so it does take two to make it work.

8. Which character has surprised you the most and why?
Gustavo, without a doubt. He’s played so many roles in my mind throughout The Gilded Flower series. I never conceived him to be a villain. Originally, I wanted him to be an open and intense lover for Lily, one who would challenge her and force her to grow and face her fears. As the series progressed, he kept appearing, and thus his role had to change. I secretly hoped he would be her HEA until mid-way through Calla Lily when I realized that wasn’t going to happen. So then he needed to assume a new role. As the series continues, his story deepens and becomes more nefarious. I love it, and I appreciate how his character is so malleable like that. Makes him even more appealing. Amoral characters don’t lose their sex appeal (most of the time).
A close second is Dahlia. I expected a lot out of her, but now that I’ve written the end of her Trilogy, I just want to hug her for how far her character has come.

Excerpt

“Your forfeit for you losing Miss Marshall is that you are to kiss, no snog the face off the next man who comes through those pub doors.” Every single one of our party, including me, turn to face the dreaded doors. The feeling of expectation has just trebled and shot through the roof.
“You're joking, right? What if it's an eighteen year-old student? My job would be on the line or even worse, I'd be classed as a cougar!” My voice ends on a shrill as the realisation of what I've got to do sinks in.
“Come on Marshall, I'm sure your forfeit for me had I lost would have been far worse.” Actually he's probably not wrong there. Having him rub a red-hot chili over his hands and then telling him to wank himself sounds more and more appealing. Next time Rushton, next time.
I rest my head in my hands dreading every second of this and as to who will be the next male to walk in here. Please don't let it be some old geezer either. I groan through my fingers. The silence is deadly as the wait begins. I wish someone would bloody talk to break the drought of conversation, it may just lead to a distraction and then me not having to do it, or at least them remembering when a hot looking Professor walks in.
Actually scratch that thought, as the image of Marc Sanders is now firmly imprinted on my brain. I can hear the laughs from Isabel now, as she most probably would have read my mind. I look up when I hear an over exaggerated intake of breath come from Melissa and once again all eyes are fixed on the doorway.
“You've got to be fucking kidding me!” The words are out of mouth before I can even put my brain into first gear.

A J Walters is a contemporary romance author and an Amazon #1 Bestseller in Women's Fiction. Having interests in history, romance and elements of erotica, she has brought all of these together in her debut publications; The Attraction Series.

Wanting to break the trend of size 12 virgins in books, A J Walters has introduced a new real woman in Isabel Chambers. She’s a size 18-20, working single mother who now feels is it her time to start living her life again. At the ripe young age of 39 (at time of writing 1st book), A J Walters also wanted to show that you can experience everything that a twenty-something would.

“I saw that a 39 year old isn’t quite at retirement age for fun, sex and finding love again. There are so many women out there that can be represented in books as well as the slim, innocent and beautiful types. Don’t get me wrong I love reading books with them in, but there is so many of them around now I felt is was time for something different. I’d like to think I brought my sense of humour across in it as well. I am ditsy, I suffer from ‘foot in mouth’ syndrome, but I can also be serious and sentimental. From the feedback I’ve had, apparently it makes for a great writing voice.”

A J Walters has since gone on to publish 2 books in The Attraction Series; An Acute Attraction and A Constant Attraction. There is a 3rd book in the pipeline, which is expected to be published in January 2015.

As well as writing this series of books, she has also written a short story for a summer anthology and is now an Amazon #1 Bestseller in Women's Fiction for her publication of Lust, Love, Dreams and Heartache: A book of romantic and erotic poetry.

In the midst of dragging trees, I saw Sarenah sitting on the back porch, her dress hiked up around her thighs from the heat as she was thumbing through a book.  She wasn’t even acknowledging the fact that I was there, nor did she care that I could see her bare legs.  She was being totally inappropriate and rude at the same time … and I liked it.  I felt intrigued to my very core, so much that I had to go over and say something to her.
“Hey,” I mumbled.
Without looking up, she reiterated, “Hey.”
My frustration grew as I clenched my fingers into my palms.  “Is that book so interesting that you can’t even talk to me?”
That had gotten her attention.  She slammed the book shut and stood up, the dress falling back down around her ankles.
“Are you so interesting that I can’t even read my book?”  Her dark eyes were wild and she was glaring at me as if she wanted me to spontaneously combust.  “Don’t you have a job to do?  Look at this mess.”  Her eyes moved to the yard.  “All of these branches everywhere.  My uncle will have your hide.”
She was so angry.  I couldn’t help myself.  I wiped the sweat from my brow with the back of my hand and busted out laughing.
Sarenah’s hands moved to her hips.  I thought she was about to hit me.
I threw up hands up in defense.  “I’m …”  The laughter got the best of me again.  “I’m sorry, Sarenah.”  I flashed her an apologetic grin.  “It’s just, I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard you talk so much and you’re spatting off at me like some crazy person.”
Her gaze had softened then.  She bit her bottom lip so she wouldn’t crack a smile herself.  “A crazy person, huh?”
I nodded, stopping to really get a good look at Sarenah’s face, her stunning features and the way her dark eyes popped out in a terrific way.  This was Rebecca’s sister?  I had been missing out.  Sarenah’s strange ways evaporated into enticement before me.
I spent the rest of the evening listening to Sarenah talk as I took all of it in.  The tree branches were still scattered all over the yard, but I doubted her uncle would be back anytime soon to discover the mess.  Everyone knew he lived at the saloon.  She talked mostly about her parents.  She had a deep ache from the loss inside of her.  She was in a great deal of pain that I felt my own heart hurting along with hers, for her.  I found myself wrapping my arm around her and her actually letting me get away with it, but I wasn’t in it to try to make a move.  I found myself wanting to comfort Sarenah, tell her everything was going to be okay.  I wanted her to trust me and continue to confide in me.  She leaned her head against my shoulder, being content to be there with me.  It felt incredible as if I had been able to tame her so easily.  She was feisty but now so serene.  I could’ve lived in that moment forever and been completely content to just be lucky enough to be near her, to smell the flower fragrance in her hair as it fell down across my arm.  I rubbed her shoulder with my fingertips.  She started humming, the sound making the chaos within me only increase.  It was in that moment that I had leaned over and my lips found hers.  It had been brief but magnificent, and I was wondering if my mind was ever going to be the same.
