REVIEW: First Position (Dirty Dancing #1) by Melody Grace

Synopsis

"A man dances the same way he f*#ks. His stamina, his rhythm, the slow grind of his hips. Some people are born to it, others learn through years of careful study.

And dancers? We f*#k best of all."

The moment I saw her, I knew. Her innocence is intoxicating. My lust is fierce. Primal.

To watch her dance is to know the torment of true temptation.

She will be mine.

*Part one of a sexy, seductive new romance serial*

Review

I really wanted to love this book. The synopsis and the teasers throughout social media made it sound like it was going to be a scorching exotic love story. However, it just didn’t live up to the hype. The beginning seemed to drag on and I had a hard time staying focused on reading. This is a short installment to a three part serial and it probably took me 2 days to read it when normally with a serial I can get through them in an hour or two.

Annalise is very naïve and as she describes her role and future in dancing, I felt no passion in her words when she spoke of her career and becoming the next big thing within her company. The whole innocent and suddenly horny and all hot and bothered, leaving her totally consumed of nothing but Raphael just didn’t mesh for me. It was hard to form a connection with her during the story.

I loved Raphael. I found myself kinda rushing through the book just so I can get to his POV’s. Raphael made it so much better for me with his charm and sexiness. His character was written and delivered very well. His words and his passion just flow right over my body like silk, smooth and leaving me with goosebumps. I would have liked to get more from him.

I like the concept of the book and the setting, which adds a great visual while reading, however I was just expecting so much more.
